LOCATION: TULSA, OK
START DATE: September 2nd, 2026
COMPENSATION: $15- $17/ HR, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Global Gardens seeks part-time (5 to 10 hours per week) Assistant Garden Educators to support its afterschool program(s) during the coming school year (Sept 2026 -May 2027).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with Garden Educator(s) to provide program experiences for groups of students.
Assists Garden Educator(s) with program setup & clean up.
Actively engages and participates in all programming with students, connecting relationally and through hands-on activities. Activities may include gardening, cooking, science experiments, team building, and other socio-emotional activities.
Provides individualized support for students with learning and/or behavior challenges.
Gathers program information (i.e., takes consensual students photos and records quotes) for media reports.
Attends periodic professional development sessions on best practices in science and peace education.
Assists with garden maintenance tasks as time permits.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must be at least 17 years old;
Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED;
Applicant should also possess
Experience working with elementary-school children, active participation in youth programming, ability to lead or plan activities and lessons;
Ability to work independently, take direction, and collaborate with a site-based team;
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation;
Commitment to children’s well-being and empowerment, peaceful conflict resolution, healthy lifestyle, gardening and sustainability;
Spanish language skills (preferred);
Experience working at public school sites (preferred); and
Knowledge of north, west, and east Tulsa communities (preferred).
SCHEDULE:
Must be able to drive to different program sites as needed
Must be available to work during the after-school hours (2:00-5pm M-Th)
Ability to work occasional Friday mornings and weekend days preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, kneeling, and pulling.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must be physically able to use garden tools and operate power equipment.
Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
