Primary Function
As an AmeriCorps Member placed through Red River Community Corps, the Membership Engagement Associate serves in a capacity-building role at Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (OKCNP), supporting the Membership Manager and Membership Coordinator in deepening engagement with OKCNP's member organizations across the state. The Membership Engagement Associate focuses on proactive outreach, relationship-building, and member support — connecting nonprofit organizations with the training, consulting, and programmatic services available exclusively to them through their membership. This position strengthens OKCNP's ability to provide excellent customer support to members, ensuring they are aware of, enrolled in, and benefiting from the full scope of Center offerings. The Membership Engagement Associate reports to the Director of Membership and works closely with both the Tulsa-based Membership Manager and the OKC-based Membership Coordinator.
Requirements
- Essential Service Activities
Member Outreach and Relationship Building
- Conduct proactive outreach to current OKCNP member organizations to introduce or re-engage them with available services and benefits.
- Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable first point of contact for member inquiries, providing timely and professional customer support to organizations navigating their membership.
- Support new member onboarding by connecting incoming organizations with relevant services, training opportunities, and Center staff.
- Assist in identifying member organizations that may be underutilizing their membership benefits and in developing strategies to increase engagement.
- Participate in member visits, site meetings, and virtual check-ins to build trust and gather insight into organizational needs.
- Represent OKCNP's values and mission in all member interactions, modeling equity, professionalism, and genuine care for the nonprofit sector.
Capacity Building Support
- Assist the Membership Manager (Tulsa) and Membership Coordinator (OKC) in identifying capacity-building needs among member organizations and matching them to appropriate OKCNP resources.
- Support coordination of member-focused events, including informational sessions, trainings, and networking convenings in both OKC and Tulsa.
- Help develop and distribute member communications that promote professional development courses, consulting services, financial services, and other member benefits.
- Assist in planning and executing the annual Membership Meeting and other signature member engagement events.
- Contribute to the development of toolkits, FAQs, and resource guides that help members more easily access and understand OKCNP services.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records in the OKCNP database, including logging outreach activities, member interactions, and service connections made.
- Assist in running queries and generating reports that track member engagement, outreach progress, and service utilization.
- Collect and organize data from member surveys and feedback forms to inform ongoing membership strategy.
- Research prospective member organizations and document relevant contact information to support new member recruitment efforts.
Administrative and Collaborative Support
- Work collaboratively with the Membership Manager and Membership Coordinator to ensure continuity and coordination across OKC and Tulsa operations.
- Provide general administrative support, including responding to emails, preparing materials for member outreach, and assisting with mailings and communications.
- Contribute positively to the team culture at OKCNP, participating in staff meetings, problem-solving conversations, and collaborative goal-setting.
- Work inter-departmentally with communications, marketing, external affairs, and administration as needed to support membership programming.
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a detail-oriented manner, balancing independent work with team collaboration.
- Maintain professionalism, organizational standards, and confidentiality as an OKCNP representative.
- Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as member events may require.
Other Service Activities
- Participate in OKCNP's signature events, including ONE and Visions, as a representative of the membership team.
- Engage in professional development activities provided through OKCNP and Red River Community Corps, including trainings, learning cohorts, and coaching.
- Complete all required AmeriCorps member documentation, timesheets, and reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Membership within the scope of AmeriCorps-approved activities.
Qualifications and Attributes
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Must be 17 years of age or older
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
- Genuine passion for the nonprofit sector and community service
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — comfortable reaching out to strangers, building relationships, and representing an organization with warmth and professionalism
- Customer service orientation with a problem-solving mindset and a genuine desire to be helpful
- Some experience or coursework in nonprofit management, communications, public relations, social services, or a related field is preferred
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and follow through on commitments with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and comfort working in databases or CRM systems
- Appreciation for Oklahoma's diverse urban and rural nonprofit landscape
- A bachelor's degree or enrollment in a college or university program is preferred, but not required
Location
This position may be based at either the Oklahoma City headquarters or the Tulsa regional office of Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, depending on the needs of the organization and the selected member. Travel between locations and throughout the state may be required.
